Black Rock, is recorded as the birthplace by H W Harwood, who wrote extensively about Midgley in the early C20. The building was located just east of the Chapel entrance on Towngate. Whereabouts of stone unknown. The initials are for Lockwood, John and Sarah who owned part of the Ewood estate.
