Mytholmroyd Farm

The sketch and description were originally published in The Halifax Courier in 1912-1913. Originally known as simply ‘Mytholmroyd’ and said to have given its name to the village. In a will dated 1549 Richard Draper of ‘Michomroode’ is referred to and in 1608 Henry Draper was in possession. No date or initial has been found and apart from recognised signs of antiquity there is no evidence of the date of the building. There are signs that a portion of the frontage has been rebuilt while the lean-to out-building at the rear of the house is certainly of modern type. The farm occupies a low lying site just beyond Mytholmroyd Station at the foot of the old Sowerby road and opposite the Wesleyan Chapel. PH/28.
