Description
Bottom right is a clear view of the canalised river. When the railway was constructed in 1839/40 the river was straightened to avoid building bridges over it where it meandered. A goods train can be seen approaching the station and just discernible the sidings of both the up and down lines which were constructed in 1872 and converted and extended into loop lines in 1906. From a glass plate.
